Overview

The City of Nelspruit will offer visitors and residents safe and easily accessible public transport during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Rail, bus and minibus taxi services will cater for a wide variety of transport requirements, and will ensure Mbombela Stadium and the FIFA Fan Fest™ are adequately served.

Event-related services will be added to the regular public transport system i.e. an airport shuttle to the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, a stadium shuttle to the Mbombela Stadium and Park n Ride services. Travel around the city will be served by an inner city transport service.

Airport Shuttle Service

An airport to city service will run from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport, via the R538 and N4 to the Public Transport Interchange situated in the CBD.

Stadium and Fan Fest Shuttle Services

Shuttles to the stadium will run from the Public Transport Interchange (PTI) and the Park n Ride sites to the Stadium Public Transport Rank.

Shuttle services will be provided from the following Park n Ride sites to the Stadium:

• Nelspruit Rugby Club
• Showgrounds
• Riverside Mall

An additional Park n Ride site - Nelspruit High School Sports Ground is situated less than 1km from the PTI, allowing spectators to walk to the PTI to catch the shuttle to the stadium.

The Fan Fest is situated at Bergvlam High School and will be served by two shuttle operations running from the PTI and the Nelspruit Primary School Park n Ride site. There is an additional parking area situated at Lowveld High School, which is in close proximity, allowing visitors to walk to the Fan Fest.

Inner City Transport Services

The inner city transport system serving the Nelspruit CBD will operate two routes on a continuous basis around the city.

Fan Park

The fan park in Nelspruit is at the Bergvlam High School, about 5km from Mbombela Stadium. It can host up to 30 000 people and will be open from 10am.
