Overview

Polokwane will offer visitors and residents safe and easily accessible public transport during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™. Rail, bus and other existing services will cater for a wide variety of transport requirements, and will ensure that the Peter Mokaba Stadium and the FIFA Fan Fest™ in Suid Street are adequately served.

Event-related services will be added to the regular public transport system i.e. an airport shuttle to the Polokwane International Airport and stadium shuttles from the Central Transport Hub, Park n Ride sites and the Railway Station. Polokwane’s inner city will be served by an inner city transport service.

World Cup Shuttle Services

A range of event related shuttle services will be provided from the Airport, Central Transport Hub and Park n Ride sites to the Stadium and Fan Fest.

Airport Shuttle

This service will run from the Airport to the Central Transport Hub via the Stadium and Fan Fest. This service will operate 3 hours before kick off on match days and on non match days it will be scheduled around arrivals and departures at the airport.

Stadium Shuttles will be offered from the Central Transport Hub, Railway Station and Park n Ride sites and visitors and spectators can use the following services:

The Inner City Transport Service
To get to the stadium from the Central Transport Hub, spectators will use the inner city transport service, known as the Ring Route Service which will operate on a continuous basis around the city. This service will operate from 10:00 to 24:00, leaving every 15 minutes on match days and every 30 minutes on non match days, transporting visitors to the Fan Fest and other areas within the city.

Park n Ride Services
Shuttles to the stadium will run from the North Park n Ride situated between Gateway, Landdros Mare and Vermikuliet Streets and the South Park n Ride situated between Tagore, Orient, Burma and Himalaya Streets in the suburb of Nirvana. These services will operate on match days only and the sites will open from 10:00 to 24:00. Spectators will be dropped off on Suid Street between Webster and East Streets.

Railway Shuttle Service

A free shuttle service between the Railway and Stadium and Fan Fest will operate on match days only from the arrival of the first train until the last train leaves after the match. The railway station will be open daily and any transport services required on non match days will be considered on demand services.

Fan Park

The fan park in Polokwane will be at the Polokwane Cricket Club at 126 Suid Street and can hold around 30 000 fans. It will be open from 10am on match days.
